Zach Whitbread to come into the side and do a job what was the point in signing him.
Charlton got their third goal in the 78th minute.

It appears that we have brought in two new players to date who were first team ready, Thorne and Christie. If the team had started as we finished last season that would have been enough. However, we tragically lost Thorne before a ball had been kicked and one or two players haven't hit any form at all, neither are the fault of the management. Since then we have acquired a loan player who isn't match fit in Best, and Omar who has no experience of the rough and tumble of the English game. The other signings have been aimed fairly and squarely at the development squad and hopefully that will pay future dividends. I am sure that we will bring in one or two more loan signings in the not too distant future who are match ready and capable of performing at Championship level but it's a test for our much vaunted scouting team. It concerns me that the head scout was given the elbow recently, is that an indication that his team have not performed as anticipated? In the meantime its got to be sink or swim Nike Kobe 10 High for Omar, the only way the lad will get the necessary experience is on the pitch, otherwise we may as well turn to Eustace because sticking with Hughes cannot be an option. I haven't seen Calero so I can't comment on his readiness but those who have give him good reports. Is it time to at least give the lad a start on the bench? For my money Dawkins has provided absolutely no end result, despite flattering to deceive. As far as fitness is concerned I would dismiss suggestions that the team isn't fit, or Martin has put on weight, out of hand. That just doesn't happen these days because players are weighed before and after the close season and action is taken against anyone who hasn't looked after himself. In fairness to the players there is a huge weight of expectation on their shoulders after last season, Bryson has had the Burnley distraction and the play off final loss was a bitter pill to swallow. The defeat at Charlton might just have lifted some of that expectation and we could see them relax a little and start to play the football that we know they are capable of. Being under the radar for a while won't do us any harm.
"Derbydeano So here we go again. We are not playing the fantastic football we finished the season on and everyone goes all negative. I am sure a lot of you on here are Nike Hyperdunk 08 Volt

Why is it that some on here have to panic so quickly. The players are in the main the same as those who took us to within a whisker last season and as we all know are in the main good players.
The visitors were now on top and Bryson stung the hands of Pope from a short corner routine involving Ward and Craig Forsyth.
Derby got one back five minutes from time.
Derby County suffer first defeat of season at Charlton Athletic despite Jamie Ward double
Then, Vetokele burst into the box but his fierce drive was beaten away well by Grant.
Buyens coolly chipped the penalty into the net, sending Grant the wrong way.

The ball broke to Ward just outside the area and his well struck shot went right through the defences of Pope, who was making his full debut. Other subs: Roos (gk), L Naylor, Whitbread, Eustace.
It stemmed from a poor kick out by Grant. Jackson's cross from the right was flicked on at the near post by Laurie Wilson and Vetokele nodded hoem from close range.
Martin had no service lastnight whatsoever, we had all possession but we didn't do anything with the ball, we seem scared to shoot and cross the ball in the box. We need to sort that quickly or tinker with the formation as teams may have found us out from last season.
We shouldn't be looking at wholesale changes, however I would not put Will Hughes in the holding position as it is not his game. Mascarell will take time to grow into the game required for the championship so I would play John Eustace he was the main stay until the best man for the job came along in the form of George Thorne. Great signing but we now have to work around the injury. The only other change that I would make is to rest Bucko so that he can recover from his hip injury and not make it worse, after all if we don't trust Nike Hyperadapt 2.0
Tucudean went on a mazy run and, though Derby had plenty of men back, skipper Richard Keogh making his 100th Rams appearance was adjudged to have fouled the striker in the box.
Bryson's shot was deflected wide and Keogh sent a 20 yarder whistling over the bar but Derby were struggling to create any clear openings.
Derby gradually warmed to their task and after Chris Martin's effort was pushed away by Pope, the ball was recycled to Ward, who smashed a left foot shot high into the net from 20 yards.
Sorry mate you're talking nonsense. People are allowed to be disappointed with a result without it making them a bad fan etc. If someone disagrees with a formation , or a player selection or something like that, they are allowed to say so! Come down off your high horse and join the rest of us. SM seems to be getting it wrong on team selection, Hughes as we all know and have seen doesn't fit as a DM and he had a dreadful game being out muscled physically. Our defending was woeful for all 3 goals and that includes Grant who made the mistake for the 3rd goal for the clearance that should have happened. Seems like a bad day at the office but I think we should try Whitbread and give Buxton a rest this weekend, and for all the talk about Calero before the game, he wasn't included which was frustrating as Dawkins was absolutely dreadful. I would like to see Russell get some games with Calero as backup for the next game.
Charlton could have added to their lead but Franck Moussa, on for the injured Tucudean, scuffed a shot wide from Johnnie Jackson's cross in the 49th minute.
